Ann Arbor, MI – The University of Michigan’s President, Mary Sue Coleman, will be one of three judges for this year’s Mock Rock. Coleman will be judging sixteen teams at the University’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee Mock Rock Variety Show on March 18th, 2014.
Mary Sue Coleman is the 13th President of the University of Michigan. Prior to being the University’s president, Coleman graduated with a degree in chemistry from Grinnell College, and then received a doctorate in biochemistry from the University of North Carolina. Coleman was a part of the biochemistry faculty at the University of Kentucky for 19 years. She was then the successor to be the 18th President at the University of Iowa until August 2002 where she assumed the Presidential office at the University of Michigan.
During her time spent at the university, Time Magazine named Coleman one of the nation’s “10 best college presidents” in 2009. Throughout her career at Michigan, in 2004, Coleman created “the Michigan Difference” campaign that sought for a $2.5 billion fundraising goal for the University of Michigan. By the end of 2008, the campaign raised over $3.2 billion for the public university. Coleman also sits on the Board of Directors of Johnson & Johnson and also serves as a chair on the Association of American Universities.
