This year the Mock Rock team has already been hard at work. We are brainstorming innovative ideas, creating new community partnerships, and preparing to put on the best Mock Rock show the University of Michigan has ever seen.
For our new student-athletes, Mock Rock is a talent show that raises money for various philanthropic partners in the Ann Arbor community. Student-athletes supply the talent to create this entertaining event that brings students and the Ann Arbor community together for a great cause.
Mock Rock was originally created in 1999 as a tribute to Michigan wrestler Jeff Reese, who passed away while training for a meet. The proceeds from the event funded the Jeff Reese Endowed Scholarship. Overtime, student-athletes began to use the event to fundraise for a beneficiary in the community and we are very excited about Mock Rock 2015’s partnership with the Ann Arbor YMCA.
On a mission to build a meaningful partnership with the YMCA’s after-school sports and health initiatives in Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti, we have many exciting engagement opportunities leading up to the show. Please keep your eyes peeled for announcements and updates. As a student-athlete you are a part of this powerful community that is striving to make a difference in other peoples’ lives. With that, the Mock Rock Team would like to share our mission statement with you.
Mock Rock, inspired by its meaningful history, seeks to invest in a community that relentlessly supports Michigan Athletics, while showcasing student-athlete talents.
Thank you and forever GO BLUE,
The Mock Team
