The 2014-2015 academic year is an exciting one! It is an opportunity to not only do great things athletically and academically but it is also a chance to get involved and make our local and global community a better place. As many of you know, SAAC is now collaborating with the Community Engagement Department to bring more meaningful service opportunities to Student-Athletes. The community service aspect of SAAC has gone through a lot of changes in the last two year and is now ready to provide more unique experiences and events to engage with the community around us. As student-athletes we have an incredibly loud voice in this community and we can really make a change. SAAC is hoping to get ALL student-athletes to participate in at least one event this year. It is important for us, as student-athletes, to give back to the community that gives us so much.

One of the major changes to community service that is being made this year is a shift in the requirements for the Rachel Townsend Award. These changes are being presented to each team individually. There will also be more diverse events to participate in this year, partnerships with new organizations, more communication of upcoming opportunities, and transportation to off site events.
