SAAC is a student-run organization comprised of representatives from each varsity and club varsity athletic team at U-M, under the legislation of the Big Ten and NCAA Division I. As a governing body for the student athletic community, SAAC engages with the Michigan Athletic Department, as well as the University of Michigan at large, including the general student population through all its governing bodies and organizations. SAAC is the voice of more than 800 student-athletes striving to create leadership opportunities, through organizing and participating in athletic events, campus activities and community service.

SAAC is an organization that dedicates itself towards fostering a strong sense of pride and community amongst the University of Michigan student-athletes by improving the academic and athletic experience, as well as the lives of the surrounding community, thereby striving to instill the tradition of the Leaders and Best.

Purpose

SAAC creates a voice that is representative of the student-athlete community at the University of Michigan. SAAC directly links the student-athletes to the athletic department (coaches and administrators), the university, and the community.
